How to Commission a Painting
I am able to take on a few commissions during a year. -Commissions are currently closed
If you’re interested in commissioning a painting…
1. The first thing to do is to send me a good quality photo/s of the scene that you would like painted. I can check they are clear to paint from and would make a good painting.

2. Tell me about the painting you want, such as size, when you need it by, or any other details. Oil paintings take time, so please be aware of the time frame below.

3. Once the above is agreed I will send you a quote (or a selection of quotes according to size). See below for sample quotes. Once a 30% deposit is paid, I will begin painting.
4. I will send a picture of the finished painting, to check you’re happy with it. If not, I can do one more paint layer to make adjustments. Once the full amount has been paid, I will send the painting to you.

Paintings typically take 3 - 9 months depending on demand, layers and complexity. I need time to order and prepare the canvas, do a transfer drawing, paint, let the paint dry and varnish the finished painting. Make sure to let me know if you require your painting before a specific time.

I paint mainly landscapes featuring mountains or lakes, but other subjects may be possible.
I paint from photos, you are welcome to send me some of your own, as long as they are a clear image. A range of photos would be helpful as it can be surprising how much the same location can differ according to weather, time of day, composition…etc
If you don’t have photos for me to work from, I may be able to take some myself, or we could ask permission to use a photographer’s photo.

12x16 Inches Canvas = $500
16x20 Inches Canvas = $800
18x24 Inches Canvas = $1000
20x30 Inches Canvas = $1400
24x36 Inches Canvas = $2100

Payment is by NZ bank transfer. A 30% deposit is to be paid before I begin painting.
Shipping is free NZ-wide for all paintings
At present commissions are only available in New Zealand.
